Movie in Question: Suzume by Makoto Shinkai
If you ever have the chance to watch any anime in theaters do it! Anime films are already visually stunning, but on the big screen it is even better! Suzume was visually stunning and entertaining to watch. But go in with a couple things in mind… this movie has a lot of Japanese culture embedded in it. What that means is there are mentions of the tsunami in Japan in 2011 and the theme of loss and grief. It was a rather large part of the narrative, but it was also subtext. It helped describe the emotions of the film, but wasn't necessarily a device that kept the plot moving. Overall it was a good movie and there were some funny moments.
